C/P ON THE NEWEST ROAD KILL
Could the newest 'road kill' be that of a citizen from a neighbor island?
"Just checked the PDN news online and guess what I find? Read below and see if this isn't something we were exchanging thoughts on. Chalk up one more Micronesian. She won't be the last. Drive out in Yigo some night, either on Marine Drive or in/around the Yigo mayor's office and see for yourself the pedestrian traffic. To complicate matters, as if seeing them at night isn't bad enough, they tend to wear dark clothing and you can't see them. They seem to think the middle lane is an island of safety. It is NOT!!! Drivers use that lane to make turns.
Charo, one of my worries is that they will consider further reducing the speed limits which in effect will make more of us driver's speed law violators. Reducing the speed limits will NOT prevent these deaths. The pedestrians are the ones who need to be educated and specifically be told that they are not very visible at night out here. It also doesn't help when a lot of vehicles drive in Yigo with their lights either OFF or not operating at night. A GPD presence would certainly help. But they hang out in Dededo and neglect Yigo.
It's also scary that with the two bad guys on the loose there is not police presence in Yigo. If they are spotted it would take precious time for the police to arrive out here. In the meantime we'd see someone hurt or killed or a hostage situation to deal with.
One lady in Mongmong, according to a PDN article today, says she is scared and keeps a small knife in her pocket. Does she realize that will only get her hurt or killed? Those bad guys are NOT afraid of a little knife Charo. "
I hate to say it, but women aren't the smartest when it comes to being safe. They run alone in the wee hours of the morning on poorly lit streets, walk alone to their cars in the dark, likewise to and from their front doors/cars in late or early morning hours and think a small kitchen knife or worse yet, a pepper spray can is going to help them. My dog is purely company, the dude with a gun will shoot him first, that's a fact, after that, he'll probably shoot me. Sadly, these two men have us all terrorized and we can't do a darn thing about it, how's that for an Easter celebration? Oh yeah, the topic was on the road kill, I knew it had to do with terror! The kind 'they' don't know about!
