It's quite simple...ethics are about morals...about morality based on ideas of what's right and what's wrong...most kids in kindergarten through middle and high school have an idea of what's intrinsically right or good and what's bad or evil. They have an idea that is not good to lie, cheat or steal and that it's good to be honest and responsible. A leader shouldn't have to be required to have to take anything that has to teach him/er how to be morally responsible. If he/she is morally corrupt, she/he shouldn't hold office. We really are our brother's keepers. We really should not allow someone who is corrupt to be elected into an office if he/she's morally corrupt!
Kuam reported on their webpage in an article by Ken Wetmore that:"Bill 96 would establish an ethics in government program for elected leaders and other government officials like directors, deputy directors, board members and commissioners. Senator Won Pat said, "As elected or government officials we have a responsibility to ensure that the people who have selected us to represent them or work on their behalf can have the confidence that we will not betray that trust."
I ask, what does Judi and BJ think about the lapsed funds that their democrat friend(members of the same party and are current co-members of the senator that now have the funds that employee the senator that the lapsed funds were sent to so that Fernandez could have a job in the current circus). Carmen Fernandez had some $15K left in her legislative funds when her office came to a close. She gave it to either Rory Respicio or Frank B. Aguon who supposedly used the lapsed funds to hire her as an employee for the exact amount of money as a community worker or consultant.......tell me Judi Spirit of Guahan and BJ Give my land away, how's that for wanting leaders to be ethical? This sounds like Mrs. Kettle calling Mrs. Pot....Black?
Personally? I think that the minute a person becomes a so-called 'leader'(which most of them are not), they become morally challenged...if not totally impaired and frankly, I don't think there's any place that they can go to learn how to become ethically responsible leaders.
Maybe we should dwell on some real issues instead of daydreaming on the building of castles on clouds.....tax refunds is a good start....fixing the retirement fund problems is another place that needs fixing, the non-profit Lighthouse project for substance abuse is in desperate need of help and the list goes on......we need to get out of the fantasy mode....it's time to be in the real mode!
